Plot summary
Mark has settled in Portland, Oregon, where his wife Tania is expecting their child. Kurt, an old friend he has not seen in years, calls to suggest a night of camping at Bagby Hot Springs in the Cascades. Kurt still lives hand to mouth, sleeping on couches and going on meditation retreats. Tania is passive-aggressive about the plan and turns down Mark's invitation to join them. Mark drives with his dog Lucy to Kurt's place and waits. Kurt has come back from a retreat in Ashland. Mark agrees to take them to Bagby, and the two set out with Lucy. They mourn the closing of a second-hand store they both liked.
