Plot summary
Clementine is one of Santa's elves in Northpole, a vast city kept alive by the holiday happiness of families everywhere. That supply has been thinning, since families are so busy that they no longer spend the season together, and the city is running down. She spots hope in Kevin Hastings, a boy who has just moved with his mother Chelsea from Wisconsin to Colorado. Chelsea is a newspaper reporter, and Kevin worries that Santa cannot find their new address. He and Clementine set one task for themselves: to bring back the tree lighting ceremony the mayor canceled at Greenwood Park. Chelsea is covering that story for her paper and has no patience for Kevin's belief that he is doing it to save Christmas. His teacher, Ryan Wilson, encourages him.
