Plot summary
Carolyn Ellenson Grant and her wealthy husband Harlow live separate lives. He supports her, and now that he has fallen for another woman he wants a divorce; years ago, when she asked for one, he refused, and this time she will not agree. Carolyn also keeps a lover, Wayne Vincent, whom she uses to get what she wants, and she leaves damage behind among the people around her. When Carolyn is found dead in her studio, the police look first at Harlow. Detective Lieutenant Colton and Detective Sergeant Wells find no shortage of suspects: Wayne, who lost his job through her, and the assistant whose fiancé Carolyn tried to seduce. Harlow has to prove his innocence.
