Plot summary
Meera and Arjun are married and both hold corporate jobs in Gurugram. One night after a party, Meera gets a call from her office and drives away; thugs smash her car window. She escapes, but the attack leaves her shaken, so Arjun buys her a gun. He proposes a road trip for her upcoming birthday, and the next day the two set out. They stop for lunch at a roadside dhaba, and a young woman, Pinky, comes to them asking to be saved. She says that she and her husband are to be killed. Meera and Arjun then watch as a gang surrounds and strikes the pair and hauls them into a vehicle. Arjun intervenes, but Satbir, who leads the gang, slaps him and says Pinky is his sister.

- Anushka Sharma performed all her own stunts in NH10, suffered bruises and back pain and was hospitalised. While filming a night scene, a moon box light weighing about 900 kilograms was swaying on a crane in high winds and Sharma spotted that the skimmer holding it was torn, so the team evacuated.
- NH10 was announced in 2013 with Freida Pinto and Rajkummar Rao, and the script then went to several actors after Anushka Sharma turned it down as she was busy. While filming Bombay Velvet (2015), that film's director Anurag Kashyap told Sharma Navdeep Singh was still trying to make NH10, and she came on board.
- India's Central Board of Film Certification removed scenes and dialogue from NH10 and passed it with an A (adult only) certificate and nine cuts. Director Navdeep Singh said of the censorship: "words can be violent and deleting them reduced that impact besides diluting the flavour".
- The scene in NH10 where a couple are murdered by their own families was inspired by a real-life honour killing case that Anushka Sharma and director Navdeep Singh came across while researching the story; other scenarios in the film were also drawn from real honour killing cases.
- Darshan Kumar refused to interact with Anushka Sharma on the sets of NH10 because he wanted to stay in character. Sharma said that hearing Kumar talk while they filmed the scene in which their characters confront each other made her fear him.
