Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Agneepath (2012)

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • Producer Karan Johar had wanted to remake the original Agneepath ever since its 1990 release: the film had won critical acclaim over the years, but its commercial failure had devastated his father, the producer Yash Johar.
  • The villain Kancha demanded Dutt go bald, but he was simultaneously shooting Son of Sardar and could not shave his head for continuity. Hollywood make-up artist Robin Slater gave him a prosthetic bald look, which dripped in Diu's summer heat until Dutt finally shaved his head.
  • Media reports suggested Abhishek Bachchan was being considered for Vijay, but Karan Malhotra approached Roshan for the part; Roshan was sceptical about taking on a role played by Amitabh Bachchan and agreed only after months of deliberation.
  • Roshan suffered a major back injury in October while lifting a 110-kilogram man during an elaborate action sequence; shooting was stalled for a time while he recuperated in a hospital.
  • Accidents plagued the shoot: Chopra's lehenga caught fire during an elaborate Ganpati festival song, Roshan scalded his hands filming the same scene, and holi colours flung by junior artists injured his eye during a song.
  • For the role of Vijay's sister Shiksha Chauhan, newcomer Kanika Tiwari from Bhopal was cast after being auditioned among 6,500 girls.
  • The Central Board of Film Certification demanded a few cuts because of the film's violence before certifying it U/A; its CEO Pankaja Thakur said the bloodshed was not the type that could psychologically damage a child.
