Plot summary
Sam sees his father only between business trips. What the two of them have together is the packing: the father shows his son how to fold clothes, angle shoes and tuck accessories into the corners until nothing is left over. Sam's mother has tried packing for her husband and cannot manage it. By the time Sam is twelve, the suitcase is his job, and he fills it exactly the way his father wants. When everything sits in its place, his father sends him a single word: Perfect. Grown now, Sam still packs his own bag the same way, keeping to the arrangement his father taught him.
