Plot summary

Lin Kuei assassins waylay Hanzo Hasashi, grandmaster of the rival Shirai Ryu, as he travels home with his son Satoshi, and he learns the clan has been wiped out, his wife Harumi among the dead. The Lin Kuei's grandmaster Sub-Zero freezes him and kills the boy. Hanzo comes to in the Netherrealm, gets past its Demon Torturer, and takes the sorcerer Quan Chi's offer of a place in the Mortal Kombat tournament in exchange for the chance to avenge his family, calling himself Scorpion. On Earthrealm, the thunder god Raiden and the monk Liu Kang prepare to defend their realm at the tournament run by Shang Tsung, with Sonya Blade of the Special Forces, on the trail of Kano, and Johnny Cage, an idle actor who thinks he is making a movie.

The film's Warner Bros. Animation opening logo shows Scorpion strangling Daffy Duck; the studio first planned to have Daffy impaled through the head with Scorpion's kunai, but changed it to comply with age-appropriation regulations for opening logos.
In July 2021 the Oktyabrsky District Court in Saint Petersburg banned Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge, claiming the film could motivate aggressive or self-harming behavior.
It was the first Mortal Kombat property produced at Warner Bros. Animation after the studio's parent company bought the franchise from Midway Games in 2009, the first Mortal Kombat animated project since the 1996 series Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm, and the first Mortal Kombat film rated R, with co-creator Ed Boon as creative consultant.
