Plot summary
Nancy, a 34-year-old journalist, has spent four years dating without luck, and the setups her friends arrange keep fizzling. She travels to London for her parents' 40th anniversary, where she is expected to give a speech. On the train she sits across from Jessica, a younger passenger headed to a blind date and planning to identify herself with a self-help book, Six Billion People and You. Jessica exits at London Waterloo station and leaves the book behind, a chapter marked inside. Nancy follows to hand it back. Near the meeting point, Jack, a divorced 40-year-old in online marketing, sees the book in her hands and greets her as his date. He charms her before she can explain, and she chooses to pretend she is Jessica.
