Plot summary
Before the city wakes, Ahmad drags his heavy cart through New York to a corner in Midtown Manhattan and sells coffee and bagels there. He was once a Pakistani rock star, and he is now an immigrant in New York. A wealthy Pakistani businessman he meets offers him work and financial assistance, and he promises to introduce him to the music scene. Ahmad also spends time with Noemi, a young Spanish woman who works at a newspaper and magazine kiosk nearby. The death of his wife stays with him, and he is not able to spend time with his son.
