Plot summary
Jack Carlisle is thirteen. His mother works all the time, and his father is gone. Jack thinks no one would miss him if he ran away, so he plans to leave. Before he can go, Lucretia, the family's housekeeper, gets him to read a magic book of hers. The book is about pirates on Magic Island. Reading it pulls Jack into that world, where he goes with Prince Morgan and flees from Blackbeard the Pirate.
