Plot summary
Pippi Longstocking sails the world on the Hoptoad with her father, Captain Efraim Longstocking, until a storm at sea takes the ship and leaves her to make her own way to the coastal town of Rocksby, with her horse, Alfonso, and her monkey, Mr. Nilsson, for company. She moves into Villa Villekulla, her father's house, which the local children believe is haunted. Tommy and Annika Settigren slip in after spotting lights in the windows and find Pippi there. The three become friends and fill their days with pancakes, scrubbing shoes, a motorcycle ride and dodging splunks. Miss Bannister, who runs the children's home, wants Pippi in her care, and the businessman Mr. Blackhart and his henchmen, Rype and Rancid, want the house and the land under it.
