Plot summary
Burke Ryan is a therapist whose self-help book about coping with loss has made him a best-selling motivational speaker. His wife was killed in a car accident three years earlier. He comes to Seattle, where she was from, to lead a week-long healing workshop and to negotiate a multimedia deal. In a hotel hallway he meets Eloise, who owns a flower shop and spurns his attempts to chat, since her own past relationships went badly. He keeps approaching her, and she agrees to an awkward dinner. Burke mentions that he has not had a date in three years, and Eloise takes him for a divorced man.
