Plot summary
Ocean Airlines owner Gary Gao launches the maiden voyage of the A390, a luxury passenger aircraft, from Rio to Hong Kong. On board are VIP guests including Prince Khadsa of Saudi Arabia, the singer Colin, the actress Lily Young and the journalist Mia Ren. Gary's company is in financial trouble, and he means to settle the prince's proposed investment during the flight. Chef Liu, taken ill, sends Mike in his place. Over the Pacific the aircraft passes through a thunderstorm and is struck by lightning; the crew want to land and inspect the damage. Gary first refuses, then allows a landing on Fortune Island and switches off the plane's location tracker. The passengers are ordered to stay aboard while Ruoxin and Captain Jason Anderson inspect the engines.
