Larry Bryggman
Biography
Larry Bryggman is an American actor known for his long run as Dr. John Dixon on the daytime television serial As the World Turns, a role he held from 1969 to 2004 and reprised for the show's final episodes in 2010. Born in Concord, California, and raised in Oakland, he moved to New York in 1959 and began acting in touring and off-Broadway theater before joining the soap. The part brought him Daytime Emmy Awards in 1984 and 1987, along with six other nominations. Bryggman also built a long stage career, appearing on Broadway in Picnic and Proof, later playing a judge in Harvey, and receiving two Tony Award nominations plus two Obie Awards across his theater work. In film, he acted in ...And Justice for All (1979) and Hanky Panky (1982), then took roles in Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995), Looking for Richard (1996), and Spy Game (2001).

Early training
Bryggman was a principal member of the Theater Company of Boston for five years. With that company he took the part of Pozzo in Waiting for Godot and a police sergeant in Live Like Pigs.
A role that slipped away
In the original Broadway run of Proof, Bryggman played Robert. He exited that production on June 10, 2001, and Patrick Tovatt, who had worked with him on As the World Turns, took over the part.

Bryggman came back to ATWT on August 27, 2010, appearing in 12 of the last 16 episodes before the show ended its run on September 17, 2010.
