Plot summary
Elisabeth, a Guernsey farmer, travels to London in the days after the July 2005 bombings because she has not heard from her daughter. The confusion of the city unsettles her, and so does the mainly Muslim neighborhood where her daughter lived. In those streets she keeps crossing paths with Ousmane, a West African Muslim who comes from France to look for his missing son. Neither Elisabeth nor Ousmane has been close to the child each is searching for, and both fear the bombs killed them. Their backgrounds are very different, but they share the hope of finding their children alive.
