Plot summary
Across two years the singer lets cameras into her work and her home. Recording sessions for her fifth album and rehearsals for a four-night revue in Atlantic City sit beside older material drawn from a storage room that holds years of footage and photographs. At home the film covers her pregnancy and time with Jay-Z, her mother Tina Knowles and her sister Solange. Archive clips bring back Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Lady Gaga and Matthew Morrison. The film also draws on video she shot with a camera on her own computer. Knowles has said she would not have released a film just to document herself, and that she wanted it to express her belief that life is not random and everything has a reason.
