Plot summary

Four years after the team's victory, the D.E.T.I.A. has had most of its funding cut and let nearly all its staff go, and Lazer Team has broken up because its four members cannot work together. Herman sells his fame through marketing and commercials, Zach runs a laser hair removal business while hoping to win back his ex-girlfriend Mindy, and Hagan is depressed, feeling his life has peaked. Woody alone was reassigned, and with the scientist Maggie he works at creating a rift in space, prompted by an unknown transmission. When the rift is perfected, an alien being abducts Woody, leaving his helmet behind, and a rescue attempt fails. Major Evelyn Kilbourne, now head of D.E.T.I.A., orders every Lazer Team project shut down. As her lab is cleared out, Maggie takes the translocator and goes looking for the others.
