Plot summary

Edward, a widower, owns the roadside diner where his daughter Nancy waits tables, and he wants to start dating again. He promotes her to manager and leaves the place in her hands, so the night shift is hers to run with the chef Jake, his younger brother Peter, and the waiter Bobby. After teenagers cause a scene in the diner, Nancy impulsively fires Jake, who says he needs the wages to cover his prescriptions and other essentials. Her father is angry that the diner has lost its only chef. Nancy decides to work through the night to pay the bills, and then masked men attack the diner.
