Plot summary
Prince Yermolay of Ust-Vym is sent to distant Parma, where he dreams of uniting the peoples of these lands under a single princedom. Yermolay is killed fighting the Voguls, and his son Mikhail inherits his place between the Grand Duchy of Moscow and pagan Perm. Mikhail marries Tichert, called Tiche, the daughter of a Permian prince and a lamia sorceress held to be the living incarnation of the Golden Woman, Sorni Nai, whose owner rules Parma. Mikhail wins allies among the local khans and keeps a fragile peace, while Asyka, ruler of the Vogul duchy of Pelym, wants Parma and Tiche for himself. Grand Prince Ivan III of Moscow sets out to bring Mikhail and his allies under his rule.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- More than 2,000 people worked on Land of Legends, including a film crew of 150, and extras recruited around Gubakha deliberately did not shave their beards for several months so they could appear in both the summer and winter shooting blocks.
- The costumes of the inhabitants of the film's fictional water city of Uros were made to order from real fish skin.
- After filming ended in Gubakha, the producers decided not to dismantle the scenery but to keep the built city as a historical and tourist site, donating the large "Cherdyn" decoration to the city administration.
