Plot summary
Andrey Kulikov, a machinist, comes to Paris to buy a Russo-Balt, the oldest Russian-made car, and to call on an old lady. On the street he passes a woman, Vera, whose face he knows from a headstone in the Russian cemetery of Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, in the grave next to his great-grandfather's. That ancestor, Andrey Dolmatov, was a lieutenant in the Life Guard Horse Regiment and served as an officer of the White Army in the revolution and the civil war, and he loved Princess Vera Chernisheva as the Russian Empire fell. The film is set in 2016 and is inspired by a true story.
