Plot summary
In May 2014, the war in Donbas reaches the Lugansk region in eastern Ukraine, and the Novozhilov family finds itself caught up in the events unfolding in the city. Vlad Novozhilov served in Afghanistan and has seen what war does to people. He does not want to take up a weapon again, and he can think of only one answer for his family: leave the country. That answer is gone, because the border is closed. Separated from his family, he reaches Luhansk, where Pavel Gritsai, a comrade from his old service and now a separatist commander, helps him find work driving an ambulance.
