Plot summary
A woman who cannot recall her name climbs out of a coffin at a funeral home and reaches a telephone in the morgue. She dials 911, but the cord comes loose while she talks and the call drops. A man in a chrome skull mask, a camera fixed to his shoulder, kills the mortician who walks in on them. She stabs her attacker in the eye and runs. Tucker, driving past, picks her up and takes her to the home he shares with his wife, Cindy. His truck is low on gas and the phone line is cut, so he promises to bring her to the sheriff's station in the morning.

- Robert Hall, the writer-director of Laid to Rest, died on May 24, 2021, months before he was due to start filming the planned third film, Laid to Rest: Exhumed, that September. His mother asked Brian Austin Green to help finish his work.
- To save money, the killer ChromeSkull's on-camera vehicle was director Robert Hall's daytime rental car, and the VW Jetta that Princess drives off in at the finish was owned by the production designer.
- Much of Laid to Rest was shot in southern Maryland, notably at the state-owned, abandoned Crownsville Hospital Center near Annapolis. Lead actress and producer Bobbi Sue Luther, a native of the area, used personal connections to secure key locations.
