Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Ladies in Black was the film that almost got away from Bruce Beresford and his friend and producer Sue Milliken, as funding agencies kept rejecting it. The X-factor was co-producer Allanah Zitserman, a producer of Russian Doll and founder of the Dungog Film Festival, whom Beresford said got them the money.
- Ladies in Black was twenty years in the making: writer-director Bruce Beresford was university friends with novelist Madeleine St John and had promised to adapt her novel ever since first reading it.
