Plot summary
Barb Valentine is a cryptid hunter, and the creature she has gone after is the Sooka, a mysterious forest creature. Barb never returns from that hunt. Kay, the woman who sets out to find her, meets the Sooka as well. The encounter leaves Kay with no memory of the woman she had been, and she abandons the life she was living to begin a new quest, for meaning and for identity.
