Plot summary
Seven-year-old Wen is vacationing with her fathers, Eric and Andrew, at a remote cabin in rural Pennsylvania. A stranger, Leonard, tells her he needs the family's aid. He and three others, Sabrina, Adriane and Redmond, push inside carrying makeshift weapons and bind Eric and Andrew. Eric sustains a concussion while he struggles against them. The four say they intend the family no harm. Visions sent them searching over the past week, and they foresee rising oceans, a pandemic and the sky falling, unless the family gives up one of its own.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Shyamalan cited Dave Bautista's performance in Blade Runner 2049 as the reason he wanted him. Bautista bulked up to 315 pounds in a short period, later saying he "over did it" and felt "uncomfortably big", which pushed him back down to 240 pounds.
- Paul Tremblay signed an option with FilmNation Entertainment in late 2017, before his novel The Cabin at the End of the World was even published, and then had to keep secret that the film was based on one of his novels until July 2022.
SPOILER
Shyamalan chose to change the ending of the film and make it different from the book, so that it was not as dark and open-ended as the novel's conclusion.
