Plot summary
Soleil Moon Frye worked from her own archive: tapes, diaries and voicemails saved from her teenage years. She had carried a video camera through the 1990s and recorded hundreds of hours, then stored the footage for more than two decades. Going through all of it took four years. Her first plan was a film that did not put her at the center; once she chose to appear in it, an editor on the project conducted the interview with her. She also contacted people she had known back then, whether or not they had remained close. Some of them speak on camera now, while others appear only in the old footage.
