Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story (2017) on Netflix

Plot summary

Hedy Lamarr grows up in Vienna in an assimilated Jewish family and tinkers with homemade gadgets as a girl. Her movie career in Austria gives way to a move abroad when Nazi Germany moves against her country, and she leaves a loveless marriage behind. In the United States she becomes one of Hollywood's most celebrated faces, a star praised for her looks above all else. The account draws heavily on audio recordings Lamarr made, with other sources corroborating the details. Her private life includes six marriages and a long struggle to be seen as more than a beauty. Underneath the glamour she remains an inventor, a mind the world around her does not recognize.
