Plot summary
Jason Clay is hauling a wagon of Kentucky rifles to California when the axle and a wheel break. The wagon train will not wait, so Clay stays behind to find wood and mend the wagon with his mentor Tobias, Amy Connors, her boyfriend Daniel Foster, and the Hays, with Cordy expecting a child. Comanches, who already know what the wagon holds, give the group an ultimatum: the rifles or their lives. Foster wants to hand the guns over in exchange for safe passage, and Clay refuses, so the two men clash over what to do with the guns.
