Plot summary
Drummer BJ plays a steady gig at the Cash Bar in Los Angeles, where he persuades Yeji to sing with him and the two become a couple, until music comes first and she leaves. Twelve years later BJ is still at the bar, and when he drives off the last regular, Cash lets him go. His mother Brenda and Cash push him to move to South Korea and join the live backing band for Wildcard, a televised K-pop contest hosted by Cash's distant aunt Diamond, who needs a drummer and hires him. Awoken by housekeeping after dozing off in his room, BJ rushes across town and reaches the studio more than 20 minutes late, where Diamond warns him to be careful. There he meets Tae Young, a 12-year-old contestant, and the boy's group of friends on the show.
