Plot summary
Around 2027, most of the planet's climate can no longer sustain the creatures that InGen and other firms brought back from extinction, and the remaining animals live in equatorial exclusion zones. Martin Krebs, an executive at the pharmaceutical company ParkerGenix, hires the former covert operative Zora Bennett for a classified task: gather DNA-bearing biomaterial from three large specimens, material that is crucial to a new treatment for cardiovascular disease. Zora brings in Duncan Kincaid, a longtime associate, to lead the expedition, with LeClerc as maritime pilot, Nina, and security expert Bobby Atwater. The group travels illegally to Île Saint-Hubert, home to the Mosasaurus, the Titanosaurus and the Quetzalcoatlus. Nearby, Reuben Delgado is sailing with his daughters Teresa and Isabella, and with Teresa's boyfriend, Xavier Dobbs. The Mosasaurus overturns their sailboat.

Mahershala Ali's Duncan Kincaid was written to be killed by the Distortus rex, but after Ali was cast, Universal believed the character should live because of his star status; Edwards and Ali pushed for the death, and Edwards shot extra Thailand footage of Duncan surviving and put it in the film.- After seeing an early cut of Rebirth, Steven Spielberg and David Koepp asked for the film's many Easter eggs to the original Jurassic Park to be removed; most were kept, but Mr. DNA, the animated character from the 1993 film, was cut.
- Glen Powell, who had voiced Dave in the animated series Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous, was in talks to play Dr. Henry Loomis in Rebirth but turned the role down, saying somebody better could do the job.
- The film's boat-attack shots were filmed in water tanks with boats placed on hydraulic gimbals built by special effects supervisor Neil Corbould, and most tank sequences were shot with no water at all, which was added later through CGI.
- Jurassic World Rebirth contains 1,515 visual effects shots, the most of any film in the Jurassic series, with Industrial Light & Magic completing over 1,000 and vendors including Important Looking Pirates and Midas doing the rest.
- Rebirth's Best Visual Effects nomination at the 98th Academy Awards was the first Oscar nomination in any category for a Jurassic Park film since The Lost World.
