Plot summary
Jack flies into Melbourne with almost no money and hardly anyone he knows in the city. In desperation he takes an apartment that had belonged to John Ellroy, the prime suspect in a serial murder case. Insomnia keeps Jack awake, so he broods indoors and roams the inner-city streets of Melbourne. His loneliness brings him a friendship with Janie, a teenage addict, and an obsession with Ellroy. Jack fights to keep hold of his sanity.
