Trailer

Plot summary

Frank Wyatt takes his younger brother John and his friends Mike Peterson and Ray Cochran to a professional boxing match in Chicago, riding in Ray's RV. Stuck in heavy traffic, Ray leaves the expressway and drives through a run-down residential neighborhood, where the RV strikes a man named Teddy. They find he has been shot and is carrying a paper bag of money, and take him aboard to reach a hospital. A car sideswipes the RV, wedging it in a narrow alleyway. Sykes, Rhodes and Travis haul Teddy into the street, where Fallon, the crime lord whose money Teddy stole, executes him. Fallon and his men turn on the four friends, who saw the shooting.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Judgment Night (1993)

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • Hopkins wanted John Travolta in the lead role and Kevin Spacey as the main villain; other actors, including Ray Liotta, Tom Cruise, Samuel L. Jackson and Christian Slater, were either offered roles or turned them down.
  • While they were filming the scene where Ray, played by Jeremy Piven, is confronted by Fallon, played by Denis Leary, a shooting occurred near the set, and as a result the Army came in and temporarily shut production down.
  • The producers commissioned several scripts from many different writers, among them John Carpenter, William Wisher, Randall Wallace and Christopher Crowe; some versions involved bikers in the desert outside L.A. and rooftop motorcycle chases.
  • Comedian Adam Carolla, who was friends with the assistant director, was a stand-in for Michael Wiseman, one of the film's "bad guy" actors; it was his first foray into film.
  • According to Hopkins, the studio was so taken aback by the bleak tone of the dailies that executives thought the crew were using a matte painting.
