Plot summary
Larry Phillips drives a truck and competes with Victor, the wealthy businessman now married to Larry's former wife, for the affection of his eight-year-old daughter Noel. Larry offers to mail Noel's letter to Santa Claus, then secretly opens it to learn what she wants most. The answer is a Harrison the Talking Bear, the toy of the season. Larry tries to buy one. Victor has other plans: he sends his employee Welling to watch Larry and learn what Noel wants, and he orders Welling to buy up every Harrison Bear he can find, so that the gift will come from Victor. Each time Larry finds one, it is gone.
