Plot summary
Jim Carrey played the comedian Andy Kaufman in Man on the Moon and stayed in character while the film was being made, finding it hard to separate himself from the role. Interviews with Carrey almost twenty years later sit beside footage from that production, some of it shot by Kaufman's former girlfriend. People who had known Kaufman, family among them, said being near Carrey felt like having Kaufman with them again. The footage had been kept out of sight, and Carrey says the reason was to keep people from thinking badly of him.
