Plot summary

At Barefoot's high school, the film club is making a teen romance, but Barefoot and her friends Kickboard and Blue Hawaii want something else: a period samurai picture of their own, Samurai Spring. Barefoot chases a boy her own age, Rintaro, until he reluctantly agrees to take the leading role, and she pulls together classmates for the cast and crew. Karin, a rival student, is shooting a romance with a budget from the club, and Barefoot keeps reworking the last stand-off between her hero and his enemy. When a supporting actress faints on Karin's set, Barefoot's team lends her Blue Hawaii. The plan is to screen Samurai Spring at the school festival.
