Plot summary
Johnny Reynolds returns from Mexico City to the bedside of his father, the wealthy New York millionaire Jonathan Reynolds. Dr. Harvey gives the old man little time, and Jonathan's one wish is to meet the woman his son will marry. Johnny's fiancée, Gloria Pennington, is out with her mother, so he asks Anne Terry, a hat check girl, to play Gloria for a single introduction. Anne is gentle with the ailing man. The next morning Jonathan feels better than expected and asks to see Gloria again, and Dr. Harvey presses Johnny to keep up the pretense. Johnny finds Anne at the station, where she is about to depart for her hometown permanently, and persuades her to come back with him.
