Plot summary
Sonia Friedman writes jingles and imagines a life far more thrilling than the one she has. Chris Jensen, the man she lives with, proposes marriage; she says no and he moves out. Her friends Nora, Lee and Anna rally around her. Lee and Anna are married, Nora is engaged to Mark, and it was Mark who introduced Sonia to Chris half a year before. Chris reminds her that they have been together for over a year and that seeing her friends settle down should have softened her resistance to marriage. She apologizes, and they agree she can take time to decide. Visiting the house Nora and Mark have bought for the baby they are expecting, Mark urges Chris to demand an answer, and Chris tells Sonia he will not wait forever, suggesting they put the relationship on hold.
