Plot summary
Fourteen-year-old Lila lives in Brooklyn with her widowed father and spends the summer in the same dance class as her friend Chiara, preparing for a big performance. Chiara is more experienced, but with her boyfriend Patrick she has gone no further than third base. Lila claims experience she does not have and trails the couple on their outings. At the beach she catches the eye of Sammy, an older boy rumored to sleep with anyone. She turns up at the arcade where he works and tells friends they are together. Sammy treats her as a kid and shows no interest, but he does not turn her away.
