Plot summary
Walter Ohlinger, a retired Marine, has kept quiet for nearly forty years about the day President Kennedy was killed in Dallas. Now he has terminal cancer and wants to talk. He asks his neighbor Ron Kobeleski, a cameraman without work, to record his confession: that he, not Lee Harvey Oswald, fired the fatal shot. Ohlinger says the second-gunman theory is right because he was that gunman, and he shows Kobeleski a spent casing from his rifle. Kobeleski wants proof and follows Ohlinger as he tries to support his account. Some people they visit back him; his ex-wife calls him a fraud and a lunatic. Then threatening messages arrive on Kobeleski's answering machine, and he spots figures in his backyard.
