Plot summary
Cameras recovered from Lincoln School in Sacramento, California, during its demolition hold the footage of a television crew shooting the pilot of a paranormal show called Infrared. The building shut down after several people died in a gas leak in its basement, and the rumors of haunting that followed made it a sought-after site for investigators. Geoff, who once taught at the school and now owns and keeps up the building, lets the crew inside. Wes and his psychic sister Izzy lead the show, their relationship strained since a man died at one of his exorcisms. Once inside, Izzy senses something wrong with the building, and odd phenomena follow.

- Because of the covid-19 pandemic, directors Robert Livings and Randy Nundlall Jr. cast only three actors in Infrared's main roles and had the production crew double as actors, while lockdowns limited the filming location's availability.
- Robert Livings and Randy Nundlall Jr. wrote an outline for Infrared but no dialogue, so that the actors could improvise their lines, after planning the horror film following their earlier movie The Other Girl.
- The school used for Infrared had been abandoned since about 2010, and the filming permits were obtained through Robert Livings's wife, a teacher who was able to find the school district and officials needed to grant them.
- Greg Sestero said Infrared appealed to him because it reminded him of several bizarre people he met while living on a ranch in Arizona; he planned his character's motivations before filming and kept them secret from the others to maintain the element of surprise.
