Plot summary
Hanna Brooks and her mother Deborah move to Chicago, where Hanna begins her junior year at Lakewood High School, a place still affected by the overdose of a popular student years before. She has an anxiety disorder, and the new school and the work of fitting in weigh on her. She falls in with a group of popular, wealthy students, faces peer pressure, and is pulled between two boys, one a bad boy with a good heart, the other a rich, popular kid who is not as straightforward as he seems. Prescription drugs enter the picture, and the situation turns dangerous enough that Deborah must fight to save her daughter.
