Plot summary
The film opens with an art installation in which the singer appears seated beside a coyote as a queen, then moves into vocal sessions with her music director and auditions for the Re-Invention World Tour, the tour built around her album American Life. After the opening show at The Forum in Inglewood, California, she celebrates with her dancers. Rehearsals continue as the tour reaches New York City, where she asks the dancers to register to vote in the coming elections, and she speaks about her daily life, her family and her faith. In Chicago, her father speaks about her childhood from his vineyard and comes to see her perform, and in Miami her husband goes fishing with their son while she reflects on their marriage.
