Plot summary
Tira dances burlesque and tames lions in Big Bill Barton's Wonder Show. Her boyfriend, the pickpocket Slick Wiley, works the crowd while she performs. A rich customer, Ernest Brown, arranges a private meeting; Slick bursts in to run a scheme on him. Ernest threatens to call the police; Slick hits him with a bottle and runs off. Slick is jailed for it, and Tira fears he will name her, so she needs a lawyer. Big Bill offers the money if she will put her head in a lion's mouth. The act succeeds, and the show travels to New York City.
