Plot summary
Melea Martin studies dance at a prestigious school in Cape Town, where she has been preparing a hip-hop version of Romeo and Juliet as her thesis presentation with her love interest, Erik Wildwood. It is meant to honor her late mother's memory, but when Melea cannot pay her tuition, the school lets her go. She decides to mount the production herself and rents a failing theater, asking the people around her to back it, among them her childhood friend Nadine and her classmate Laser. A club dance battle brings her up against Ishani, a Cape Town dancer grieving her brother. In rehearsal, rivalries and clashing egos among the cast put the performance at risk.
