Plot summary
At a Washington think tank, a cocktail party is interrupted when an unseen attacker drags the scientist Devin Villiers into a bathroom. The attacker forces Villiers to name Maggie Dalton, a fellow scientist who holds a formula he wants, and warns him to say nothing. Villiers is killed soon afterward. Dr. William Reisner, who owns the laboratory behind the invisibility experiment, asks that the detectives Frank Turner and Lisa Martinez be assigned to guard Maggie.
