Plot summary
Ricky Miller manages a restaurant, writes on the side and shares his home with two black cats. His best friend Seth, a single accountant, keeps pushing him to go out and meet women. At the wedding of the last unmarried man from their class, Ricky asks God to send him someone. He then signs up on a dating site after a pop-up ad appears, and a woman named Danita answers his profile. They meet at the restaurant where he works and find they both like cats and hockey. Seth doubts that a woman like Danita would want Ricky. Danita tells Ricky that she is married to Ben Jacobs, a novelist and former rabbi, and that the two of them can only be together if her husband is killed.
