Plot summary
Mercenaries under Owen Paddock, a former special forces soldier, keep attacking a Chinese-owned oil refinery in Iraq, and it closes. Dragon Luo, who runs a private security company, evacuates the civilian staff, among them the refinery's chief engineer and Mei, his estranged daughter, in a convoy of eleven buses heading down the Highway of Death toward the Green Zone. Chris Van Horne, a former US Marine who needs money to fix his village well, joins his mercenary brother Henry in striking at the convoy for Owen, believing the job is about a man who attacked them years earlier. A truck carrying a jet engine raises a sandstorm to cover the assault, and two buses are boarded.
