Plot summary
At a Paris railway station, Zazie's mother hands the ten-year-old over to her brother Gabriel and leaves with a new lover. Gabriel's friend Charles drives them in his taxi to Turandot's café, above which Gabriel lives with his wife Albertine. Zazie asks for a ride on the Métro. The workers are striking, so no trains run and every station is shut. Turandot is shocked by the child's language.
