Plot summary
Kelley Morse is cocky and brash, a student at a posh private school near a small town where Jasper Arnold lives with his working-class family. Samantha Cavanaugh has been Jasper's girlfriend for years. Out for a drive in his new Mercedes, Kelley locks horns with the locals, Jasper among them, and their race leaves Mable's Table, the diner Samantha's parents run, in ruins. A judge orders both to rebuild it, so Kelley spends the summer in town, boarding at his rival's home. He wants nothing to do with Jasper. Then he meets Samantha again, and the two are drawn to each other. They find they share more than they imagined.
