Plot summary
Tom Healy runs a two wagon theatrical company through the Wyoming of the old West, mild mannered and permanently behind with his bills, largely because Angela, his leading lady, cannot pass a dress shop. He is in love with her, which does nothing for the accounts.
Cheyenne receives the troupe well enough that they consider staying on. The local theatre owner is taken with Angela and she keeps him on a string, while Clint Mabry, a gunslinger owed money by the richest man in Bonanza, has designs of his own. The company's fortunes and Angela's admirers become increasingly difficult to separate.
George Cukor directed this 100 minute western for Paramount Pictures, written by Dudley Nichols and Walter Bernstein with Louis L'Amour among the credited writers. Sophia Loren plays Angela Rossini and Anthony Quinn plays Tom Healy, with Margaret O'Brien as Della Southby, Steve Forrest as Clint Mabry, Eileen Heckart as Lorna Hathaway and Ramon Novarro as De Leon.
